January 3, 1870 – The Town of Dorchester was annexed to the City of Boston. Torrent Engine Company 3 of the Dorchester Fire Department became Torrent Engine No. 18 and was located at 30 Harvard Street. The company was assigned the same 1869 William Jeffers steam engine that had been placed in service one week earlier on December 25, 1869.
1873 – Company names discontinued, reverted back to numbered company only (Engine 18 – as it remains today).
November 20, 1890 – Company received a new 1890 Amoskeag Third Size steam engine, Serial # 652.
October 28, 1921 – Company received a new 1921 American LaFrance, Type 75, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 3611, Shop # 141.
1922 – Company received a 1912 American LaFrance, Type 10, Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 131, Shop # 301.
1924 – Company received a 1913 American LaFrance, Type 10, Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 236, Shop # 302.
May 22, 1925 – Hoseman Owen T. Norton, Engine Company 18, Acting Aide to District 10, died in the Line-Of-Duty while responding to Box 3274, Pierce Square, Dorchester.
June 9, 1926- Company received a new 1926 American LaFrance, Type 75, Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 5521, Shop # 352.
July 28, 1937 – Hoseman Edward R. Lynn, Engine Company 18, died in the Line-Of-Duty from injuries received on July 23, 1937, while operating at Box 354, at 68 Ormond Street, Dorchester.
1947 – Company received a 1936 Seagrave, Type V12, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 82030, Shop # 187.
1950 – Company received a 1930 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 7231, Shop # 382.
September 21, 1954 – Company was designated Engine Squad 18. The company was assigned rescue equipment and was to perform combination engine and rescue service.
July 5, 1955 – Fire Fighter Robert J. Quinn, Engine Squad Company 18, died in the Line-Of-Duty while operating at Box 3343, at 9 Thane Street, Dorchester.
November 23, 1967 – Fire Lieutenant Warren T. Lynch, Engine Squad Company 18, died in the Line-Of-Duty while operating at Box 1777, at 49 Hartford Street, Roxbury.
July 26, 1968 – Company received a new 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 80-241, Shop # 167.
July 1, 1969 – Company designated Engine Company 18. The rescue equipment that had been carried on Engine Squad 18 was reassigned to Ladder Company 27.
1971 – Company received a 1970 Hahn 1250gpm pumper, Serial # C12-40, Shop # 147.
1975 – Fire Fighter Charles A. Seaboyer, Engine Company 18, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
1976 – Fire Fighter James P. Manning, Engine Company 18, was awarded the John E. Fitzgerald Medal for the Most Meritorious Act of 1976.
