April 10, 1946 – Company organized at Long Island Hospital, Boston Harbor, with a motor pumper and motor hose wagon. The apparatus was delivered to the island via barge. The apparatus were originally lettered for Long Island Hospital. At a later date, the lettering was changed to Boston Fire Department.
The company was assigned a 1945 Ward LaFrance, Model 75T, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 45-2188, Shop # 152 , and a 1943 Chevrolet Hose Wagon, equipped with a Skid Pump, Shop # 353.
July 23, 1951 – The Long Island Bridge opened, allowing access to island by roadways. The bridge connected Long Island to Moon Island, which is further connected to the mainland via a causeway from Moon Island to the Squantum section of the city of Quincy.
November 1, 1957 – Company received a new 1957 Ford tanker truck, equipped with a 650gal. tank, Serial #98RT-145000, Shop # 354 , replacing the Chevrolet hose wagon, Shop # 353.
March 21, 1972 – Company received a 1942 Mack, Type 80, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 80LS-1123, Shop # 140 , ex-Engine 49.
March 30, 1976 – Company received a 1961 International, 750gpm, pumper, Serial # FD-54809F, Shop # 193 , ex-US Navy (Charlestown Navy Yard).
April 10, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED. Fire protection on Long Island was provided by a civilian fire brigade. The fire apparatus remained in the firehouse. The civilian fire brigade was discontinued on October 20, 1981.
February 2, 1984 – COMPANY REACTIVATED AS THE ‘FIRE BRIGADE’.
Company was assigned a 1968 Ward LaFrance 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 80-242, Shop # 168.
September 17, 1984 – Company received a 1981 GMC/Sutphen midi-pumper, 750gpm pump, Serial # HS1568, Shop # 120 , ex-Engine 49.
August 19, 1986 – Company received a 1976 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1500gpm pumper, Serial # 80-1246, Shop # 126 , ex-Engine 17.
March, 1987 – Company received a 1979 Ford/Sutphen 1250gpm pumper, Serial # HS1401, Shop # 115 , ex-Engine 4.
July 5, 1993 – Company received a 1984 Emergency One/Ford, 1250gpm, pumper, Serial # 3758, Shop # 102 , ex-Engine 3.
March 14, 2011 – Company received a new 2011 KME/Ford, 1250gpm, pumper, Serial # 7625, Shop # 177.
October 8, 2014 – Due to safety concerns, the Long Island Bridge was closed to all vehicular traffic and all occupants and staff were ordered to vacate Long Island. The Fire Brigade was deactivated. Demolition of the bridge was completed on April 23, 2015.
