January 5, 1874 – The City of Charlestown was annexed to Boston. Charlestown Ladder Co. 1 became part of the Boston Fire Department, retaining its old number for the present time. The company was quartered at 326 Main Street , Charlestown. The company continued to use an 1872 ladder truck built by Leverich & Co., of New York, equipped with 18 ladders of varying sizes.
May 7, 1874 – Charlestown Ladder 1 was reorganized and made a Part-Permanent company.
May 16, 1874 – The Board of Fire Commissioners voted to change designation of Charlestown Ladder 1 to Ladder Co. 9. This became effective the first week of June.
1886 – Company moved to new quarters across the street at 333 Main Street , Charlestown.
1907 – Company received a 1901 Charles Waugh & Co. ladder truck, equipped with 15 ladders of varying lengths.
1908 – Company received a 1908 ladder truck built by the Fire Department Repair Shop, equipped with 15 ladders of varying lengths.
December 18, 1914 – Lieutenant William H. Magner, Ladder Company 9, died in the Line-Of-Duty.
1915 – Company received an 1884 Abbott-Downing ladder truck, equipped with 15 ladders of varying lengths.
April 24, 1916 – Captain John E. Cassidy was profiled in a Boston Globe newspaper story. Profile
October 17, 1923 – The 1884 Abbott-Downing horse-drawn ladder truck was replaced by a new 1923 American LaFrance, Type 17, 75ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 4368-C334, Shop # 238.
November 22, 1927 – Company received a new 1927 American LaFrance, Type 17, 85ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 6127-C444, Shop # 249.
August 12, 1942 – Ladderman Lawrence J. Harvey, Ladder Company 9, died in the Line-Of-Duty while responding to Box 4191 for a fire at 600 Chelsea Street, Charlestown.
March 26, 1943 – Lieutenant Daniel F. Mahoney, Ladder Company 9, died in the Line-Of-Duty from injuries received at Box 4164, 4 Alarms, for a fire at 293-297 Medford Street, Charlestown, on March 15, 1943.
September 15, 1944 – Ladderman Joseph J. Luna, Ladder Company 9, on active duty in U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, was killed in action on Pelelieu Island, South Pacific.
1949 – Company received a 1945 American LaFrance, B600 Series, tractor, Serial # L2113, Shop # 237T , attached to a 1926 American LaFrance 85ft aerial ladder trailer, Shop # 243.
September 1, 1955 – Company received a 1948 Mack, Type 19, tractor, Serial # 19LS-1076, Shop # 403T , attached to a 1928 American LaFrance 85ft aerial ladder trailer, Shop # 251.
1955 – Company received a 1945 American LaFrance, B600 Series, tractor, Serial # L2114, Shop # 201T , attached to a 1927 American LaFrance 85ft aerial ladder trailer, Shop # 249.
1956 – Fire Fighter William P. Sullivan was awarded the Walter Scott Medal for Valor for his actions at 6 Franklin Street, Charlestown, Box 4154, on December 30, 1956.

1982 – Company received a 1972 Maxim 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 2962, Shop # 229.
1983 – Fire Fighter Henry J. Belluche and Fire Fighter Arthur E. Hitchman, Ladder Company 9, were awarded the Roll Of Merit for their actions on the Mystic-Tobin Bridge, Charlestown, on June 9, 1983. Citation

July 30, 1990 – Company received a new 1990 Emergency One 110ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, with 4-door cab, Serial # 8092, Shop # 218.
February 1, 2008 – Company received a new 2007 Emergency One, Cyclone II, 110ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, with tandem rear wheels, Serial # 133388, Shop # 244.
2000 – Fire Fighter Andre C. Bridges, Ladder Company 9, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
2005 – Fire Fighter David H. Krasner, Ladder Company 9, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award.
2015 – Fire Fighter Gregory L. Burton, Ladder Company 9, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his actions in Braintree, MA, on June 29, 2015. Citation
