December 1, 1955 – Rescue Company 3 was designated RESCUE COMPANY. The company continued to be quartered at Bowdoin Square , Downtown. The company continued to use a 1947 Mack/Lacey rescue truck, Serial # EHIS-7094, Shop # 395.
April 14, 1957 – Fire Lieutenant Frederick J. Ford, Rescue Company, died in the Line-Of-Duty from injuries received while operating at 6 Milton St., West End, Box 1347.
1958 – Fire Fighter William A. Dower, Rescue Company, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at 103 Brighton Street, West End, Box 1347, January 31, 1958.

June 11, 1960 – Company moved to the firehouse at 123 Oliver Street , Downtown.
May 12, 1964 – Company received a new apparatus, a Mack/Gerstenshlager ‘New York-style’ rescue truck, Serial # B85F-1488, Shop # 303.
1966 – Fire Fighter William D. Shea, Rescue Company, was awarded the John E. Fitzgerald Medal for the Most Meritorious Act of 1966 for his actions at 15-19 Boylston Street, Downtown, Box 1471, 5 Alarms, on January 28, 1966.
