February 9, 1873 – Company organized at the firehouse of Engine Co. 4 at 5 Bulfinch Street, Downtown. Company was assigned an 1873 Babcock 150 gallon chemical wagon.

3. Hoseman John P. Hennessey.
1885 Babcock 200 gallon chemical engine.
1900 – Lieutenant Joseph A. Kelley, Chemical Engine Company 1, was awarded the Roll of Merit.
April 3, 1902 – Lieutenant Solomon P. Russell, Chemical Engine Company 1, died in the Line of Duty from injuries received at a Still Alarm at 86-92 Sudbury Street, Downtown.
September 16, 1921 – COMPANY DISBANDED.
