General Order #296, dated February 18, 1888, announced the establishment of Engine Company 33. General Order #296.
April 16, 1901 – Company received a new Amoskeag Second Size steam engine, Serial # 760.
April 12, 1908 – The ‘First’ Great Fire in Chelsea occurred. Engine 33 was among 14 engine companies, 2 ladder companies and a fireboat sent by Boston on Mutual Aid to Chelsea. The fire consumed 492 acres of land and destroyed 2822 buildings before being extinguished. Companies sent to Chelsea were: Engines Companies 6, 5, 11, 36, 27, 39, 26, 8, 10, 33, 9, 40, 4, 15; Ladder Companies 21, 22; Fireboat Engine 44.
November, 1909 – Company received a new Amoskeag Second Size steam engine, built by the International Power Co. (No Serial Number assigned by IPC.)
January 13, 1913 – Lieutenant Michael D. Greene, Engine Company 33, died in the Line-Of-Duty.
March, 1915 – Company received an 1882 Amoskeag Third Size steam engine, Serial # 562, ex-Engine 12, rebuilt by the Manchester Locomotive Works in November, 1904.
April 29, 1916 – Captain M. J. Lawler, Engine Company 33, was profiled in a Boston Globe article. Newspaper story
October 16, 1916 – Company received a Christie Front-Drive, Two-Wheel Tractor, Shop # 107T , attached to a 1909 Amoskeag steam engine, Serial # 842, ex-Engine 41.
January 18, 1917 – Company received a new 1917 Seagrave motor Hose and Chemical Wagon, Serial # 12320, Shop # 314 , replacing the horse-drawn hose wagon.

February 10, 1938 – Hoseman Cornelius Noonan, Engine Company 33, died from injuries received in the Line-Of-Duty, at Box 1591, 3 alarms, 180-194 Massachusetts Ave., on January 30, 1938.
November 15, 1942 – Hoseman Malachi F. Reddington, Engine Company 33, was one of six firemen who died in the Line-Of-Duty, at Box 6153, 5 alarms, the ‘Maverick Square Fire’ in East Boston.
1943 – The 1928 American LaFrance hose wagon, Shop # 363 , was equipped with an OCD Skid Pump.

July 22, 1948 – Company received a new 1948 Mack, Type 85, High Pressure, Cardox hose wagon, Serial # 85LS1248, Shop # 397 , replacing the 1947 Mack hose wagon, Shop # 303 , which was reassigned to Engine 37.
June 25, 1955 – The Mack Cardox hose wagon, Shop # 397 , was placed out of service for rebuilding into a Squad/Pumper unit. Company received a spare 1930 American LaFrance hose wagon, Shop # 383 , as a replacement.
December 3, 1957 – Company received a 1948 Ward LaFrance, Model 85H, Hose and Booster Wagon, Serial # 2334, Shop # 308 , ex-Engine 28 and 43.
February 16, 1959 – Company changed from Double-unit to Single-unit operation.

July 1, 1964 – Company changed to Double-unit operation.
May 8, 1967 – Company received a 1942 Mack, ex-US Navy (Hingham Shipyard), Type 80, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 80LS-1123, Shop # 140 , for service as a hose wagon.
July, 1968 – Company received a 1962 Ward LaFrance, Type 1120T, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 62-4790, Shop # 139 , ex-Engine 17. The 1948 Mack pumper, Shop # 196 , was designated the hose wagon.
November 5, 1970 – Company moved to a temporary location at the rear of the Fire Alarm Office at 59 Fenway, during reconstruction of the firehouse.
November 6, 1970 – Company received a 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 80-245, Shop # 172, ex-Engine 43, replacing the 1962 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 139 , which became the hose wagon. The 1948 Mack pumper, Shop # 196 , was placed in reserve.
July 9, 1971 – Company received a new 1971 Hahn 1500gpm pumper, Serial # C15-14, Shop # 154 , replacing the 1968 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 172 , which became the hose wagon. The 1962 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 139 , was placed in reserve.
September 9, 1971 – Company returned to its remodeled quarters at 941 Boylston Street.
November 19, 1971 – Company changed from Double-unit to Single-unit operation, using the 1971 Hahn pumper, Shop # 154. The 1968 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 172 , was reassigned to Engine 45.
June 17, 1972 – Fire Fighter Richard B. Magee, Engine Company 33, was among nine members who died in the Line-Of-Duty at the Vendome Hotel Fire/Collapse, Commonwealth Avenue & Dartmouth Street, Back Bay, 4 alarms, Box 1571.
