July 26, 1918 – Company organized in the remodeled firehouse formerly occupied by Chemical Engine Company 3 at 34 Winthrop Street , Charlestown. The company was equipped with a 1916 Christie tractor, Shop #113T , attached to a 1882 Amoskeag First-Size steam pumper, Serial # 578, and a 1914 Robinson Hose & Chemical Wagon, Shop #304 , ex-Engine 46.
October 23, 1919 – Company received a new 1919 American LaFrance, Type 75, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 2657, Shop # 125 , and a new 1919 American LaFrance, Type 40, Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 2654, Shop # 324.
March 2, 1920 – Company received a new 1920 American LaFrance, Type 12, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 2802, Shop # 131.
October 3, 1927 – Company received a new 1927 American LaFrance, Type 75, Combination Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 6117, Shop # 355.
April 7, 1936 – Company received a new 1936 Ahrens-Fox, Model B-T, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 4014, Shop # 188.
11/15/1942 – Hoseman Peter F. McMorrow, Engine Company 50, died in the Line-Of-Duty at the Maverick Square Fire, 12-16 Maverick Square, East Boston, 5 Alarms, Box 6153.
April, 1946 – The Ahrens-Fox pumper, Shop # 188 , was transferred to Engine 29, and was replaced by a spare 1922 American LaFrance, Type 75 750gpm pumper, Serial # 3912, Shop # 149 , ex-Engine 24.
August, 1947 – Company received a 1931 American LaFrance ‘Metropolitan’, Type 310RC, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 7417, Shop # 183 , ex-Engine 26.
May 18, 1948 – Company received a 1948 Ward LaFrance, Model 85T, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 48-2326, Shop # 154.
July, 1948 – Company received a 1930 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 7234,Shop # 381 , ex-Engines 19 & 22.
November 17, 1954 – Company received a 1953 GMC/Robinson Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 451-30-3494, Shop # 314 , ex-Engine 53.
May 28, 1957 – Company changed from a Double-unit to a Combination Single-Double-unit operation. The 1948 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 154 , was equipped for Single-unit operation.
January 30, 1959 – Company received a 1950 Mack, Type 85, ‘Cardox’ Hose & High Pressure Booster Wagon, Serial # 85LS-1419, Shop # 339 , ex-Engine 36.
October 6, 1970 – Company received a 1957 Mack, Type 125, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # B125F-1029, Shop # 102 , ex-Engine 32.
August 6, 1973 – Company received a 1957 Mack, Type 125, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # B125F-1027, Shop # 100 , ex-Engines 2 & 4.
December 7, 1973 – Company received a 1970 Hahn 1250gpm pumer, Serial # C12-43, Shop # 153 , ex-Engine 14.
April 19, 1974 – The 1950 Mack Hose Wagon, Shop #339 , was placed out of service due to condition of the floor of the firehouse. The company began operating as a Single-unit.
October 26, 1979 – The 1970 Hahn pumper, Shop # 153 , was returned to service painted lime-green.
1980 – Fire Fighter James Cullity, Engine Company 50, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
April 10, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
May 9, 1981 – Company reestablished at the same firehouse with the 1970 Hahn pumper, Shop # 153. The reestablishment was in response to neighborhood protests and a citizen takeover of the firehouse.
March 10, 1984 – The 1970 Hahn pumper, Shop # 153 , was returned to serice painted red. This was the first company to change back to red from lime-green.
November 16, 1984 – Company was equipped with 4-inch diameter plastic feeder hose.
November 29, 1984 – Company received a new 1984 Ford/Emergency One 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 3778, Shop # 104.
1986 – Fire Fighter William J. Boyle, Jr., Engine Company 50, was awarded the Walter Scott Medal for Valor for his actions at Still Box 4146 on October 9, 1986.

2004 – Fire Lieutenant Donald P. Doenges, Engine Company 50, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
2006 – Fire Lieutenant James B. O’Brien, Engine Company 50, was awarded the Edward H. Hommel, M.D. Medal of Honor for his actions in Fallujah, Iraq, on September 4, 2006, while serving as a Navy Corpsman assigned to First Battalion, 25th Marines, USMC.

2017 – Company received a new 2017 Emergency One ‘Typhoon’ 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 141072, Shop # 120. Placed in service 9/14/2017.
