April 21, 1905 – Combination Ladder Co. 4 was designated LADDER COMPANY 21. The company was quartered at 761 Saratoga Street , East Boston, along with Engine Co. 11. The company continued to use the 1898 Charles Holloway combination chemical & ladder truck, 70gal. tank, equipped with 9 ladders of varying lengths.
December 10, 1913 – Company received a new 1913 American LaFrance, Type 14, city-service combination ladder truck, Serial # 259, Shop # 203.
June 25, 1914 – Company responded over the road to ‘The Great Salem Fire of 1914’.
August 5, 1926 – Company received a new 1926 American LaFrance, Type 14, city-service combination ladder truck, Serial # 5595, Shop # 246.
July 23, 1949 – Company received a new 1949 Maxim, Model ‘237-LA65’, 65ft junior aerial ladder truck, 150gal. tank, Serial # 1685, Shop # 270.
1959 – Fire Fighter Leo M. Myott, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
July 1, 1961 – Company moved to the quarters of Engine Co. 56 at 1 Ashley Street , East Boston. The firehouse at 761 Saratoga Street was closed.
1967 – Company received a 1949 Maxim, Model ‘237-LA65’, 65ft junior aerial ladder truck, 150gal. tank, Serial # 1686, Shop # 271.
1972 – Company received a 1962 Seagrave 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # N308, Shop # 210.
1976 – Company received a 1972 Maxim 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 3127, Shop # 222.
1986 – Company received a 1986 Seagrave 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # F76060, Shop # 290.
1989 – Company received a 1973 Maxim 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 3127, Shop # 220.
June 21, 1989 – Company received a new 1989 Emergency One 110ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, Serial # 7093, Shop # 215.
2001 – Fire Fighter John F. Fitzpatrick, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation

2006 – Fire Fighter Leroy Heywood, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
2010 – Fire Captain Carlos Nieves, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Walter Scott Medal for Valor for his actions at 61 Gove Street, East Boston, Box 6142, on May 29, 2010. Citation for Fire Captain Nieves.
2010 – Fire Fighter Joseph W. Spinale, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at 61 Gove Street, East Boston, Box 6142, on May 29, 2010. Citation for Fire Fighter Spinale.
Company received a 2004 Pierce ‘Dash’ 100ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, Serial # 15665-02, Shop # 237.
2017 – Fire Fighter Peter B. Buchanan, Ladder Company 21, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions on Ashley Street, East Boston, on July 5, 2017. Citation
