Ladder Co. 7 (Fire Companies)

January 3, 1870 – The Town of Dorchester was annexed to the City of Boston. Dorchester Ladder Company 2, located in a firehouse on Parish Street , on Meeting House Hill, was designated Boston Ladder Company 7, with the name ‘Everett’. The firehouse was a wooden, single door, structure, located adjacent to the brick firehouse of Engine 17. Ladder 7 was equipped with a truck built by Juckett & Freeman of Boston, placed into service in January, 1869, equipped with 14 ladders of varying lengths.

July 28, 1898 – Company received a new ladder truck built by C.T. Holloway & Co., equipped with 10 ladders of varying lengths.

December 9, 1914 – Company received a new 1914 Robinson motor city-service combination ladder truck, Shop # 204.

August 14, 1923 – Company received a new 1923 American LaFrance, Type 14, city-service combination ladder truck, Shop # 231.

February 15, 1928 – Company moved into a new firehouse at 7 Parish Street , Dorchester, along with Engine Company 17, adjacent to the old firehouse on Parish Street.

October 30, 1929 – Company received a new 1929 American LaFrance, Type 17, 85ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 6673-C512, Shop # 257.

May 8, 1949 – Company received a new 1949 FWD, Model F85, 85ft aerial ladder truck, with Booster, Serial # 73191, Shop # 202.

March 7, 1952 – Company received a new 1952 Pirsch 65ft junior aerial ladder truck, with Booster, Serial # 2050, Shop # 278.

September 5, 1956 – Company received a 1949 Pirsch Hydromechanical aerial ladder truck, with Booster, Serial # 1802, Shop # 243.

November 13, 1963 – Company received a new 1963 Ward LaFrance tractor, Serial # 63-4793, Shop # 214T , attached to a 1949 Pirsch 85ft aerial ladder trailer, Shop # 273.

1967 – Fire Captain John J. Hurley, Ladder Company 7, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at 91 Rosseter Street, Dorchester, Box 3335, on May 7, 1967.

September 9, 1968 – Company received a new 1968 American LaFrance 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 12-1-1143, Shop # 239.

1968 – Fire Fighter Robert M. Shaw, Ladder Company 7, was awarded the Walter Scott Medal for Valor for his actions at 31 Lyons Street, Dorchester, Box 1896, on January 14, 1968.

October 23, 1970 – Company received a new 1970 American LaFrance 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 12-1-1950, Shop # 203.

1971 – Fire Captain Warren A. Hardy, Ladder Company 7, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at Box 1771, on September 19, 1971.

June 29, 1973 – Company received a new 1973 Maxim 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 3128, Shop # 208.

December 2, 1976 – Company received a new 1976 Seagrave 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # F76073, Shop # 299.

June 19, 1989 – Company received a new 1989 Emergency One 110ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 7094, Shop # 216.

2003 – Fire Fighter Vincent E. Dimino, Ladder Company 7, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at 16 Melbourne Street, Dorchester, Box 3418, on May 3, 2003.

July 23, 2004 – Company received a new 2004 Pierce ‘Dash’ 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 15665-01, Shop # 236.

2017 – Fire Fighter Adam S. Grabert, Ladder Company 7, was among a group of firefighters awarded the Fire Commissioner’s Community Service Award for their work in support of ‘The Burn Foundation’. Citation

September 27, 2024 – The company moved from its prior location at 7 Parish Street to a new firehouse on adjacent property, with a new address of 44 Winter Street.

December 20, 2024 – Company received a new 2024 Emergency One ‘Metro’ 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 146491, Shop # 288.
