May 21, 1983 – Company organized at the quarters of Rescue 1 at 123 Oliver Street, Downtown. General Order #27 – 1983.
The company consisted of three trucks: ‘Tower 1’ ; ‘Squrt 1’ ; ‘Squrt 2’.
- The Tower unit assigned to the company was a 1970 Sutphen 85ft aerial tower truck, Shop #248.
- The Squrt unit previously assigned to Engine Company 42, Shop #404, was designated Squrt 1 and was assigned to 123 Oliver Street.
- The Squrt unit previously assigned to Engine Company 39, Shop #402, was to remain at Engine 39’s quarters at 272 D Street, South Boston, in reserve and under the supervision of Engine 39’s company officers.
July 1, 1985 – Company received a new 1985 Emergency One 95ft aerial tower truck, Shop # 206.
1986 – Company received a 1979 Ford/Sutphen apparatus, designated as the Squrt, which had undergone a rehabilitation from it’s prior service as both Engine 7’s wagon and pump, Shop #102.
1986 – Fire Lieutenant Richard L. Hartnett, Tower Company, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at One Post Office Square, Box 13-1283, 6 alarms, on December 9, 1986.

1986 – Fire Fighter On Probation (FFOP) Gregory J. Mackin, Tower Company, was awarded the Roll of Merit, for his actions at One Post Office Square, Box 13-1283, 6 alarms, on December 9, 1986. Citation
1991 – Fire Fighter Paul J. McCarthy, Tower Company, was awarded the Roll of Merit for his actions at 10 West Street, Downtown, Still Alarm, on May 29, 1991. Citation
January 4, 1993 – Company received a new 1992 Emergency One 95ft aerial tower truck, Shop #225.
1994 – Fire Fighter Don F. Cuddahy, Tower Company, was awarded the Roll of Merit for his action at 63 Hancock Street, Beacon Hill, Box 1372, on February 3, 1994. Citation
1995 – Fire Don F. Cuddahy and Fire Fighter Edward J. Glasheen, Tower Company, were awarded the Roll of Merit for their actions at 46 Francis Street, Roxbury, Box 2378, on May 13, 1995. Citation
February 10, 2001 – Company received a new 2001 Pierce 85ft rearmount tower ladder truck, Serial #11890, Shop #234.
September 7, 2002 – Effective 0800 hours, Saturday, September 7, 2002, the Tower Company was designated Tower Ladder Company 3 (G.O. #27). The company was assigned the 1992 Emergency One 95ft rearmount tower ladder, Shop #225, formerly assigned to the Tower Company.
