April 21, 1905 – Combination Wagon 2 was designated LADDER COMPANY 19. The company was located at 715 East Fourth Street , South Boston, and continued to use the 1898 Fire Extinguisher Co. combination chemical & ladder truck, 70gal. tank, with 8 ladders of varying lengths.
October 5, 1923 – Company received a new 1923 American LaFrance, Type 14, city-service combination ladder truck, Serial # 4361, Shop # 233.
December 8, 1927 Lieutenant James Gavagan, Ladder Company 19, died in the Line-Of-Duty from injuries received at 650 East Fourth Street, South Boston, Box 7433, on December 5, 1927.
May 2, 1932 – Company moved into a new firehouse, along with Engine Company 2, located at 700 East Fourth Street , South Boston.
January 16, 1933 – Company received a new 1932 American LaFrance, Type 300TC, tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 7474-C584, Shop # 263.
1944 – Company received a 1941 American LaFrance, ‘500 Series’, 100ft tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 8106-C672, Shop # 207.

Ladder 19’s 1941 – American LaFrance aerial ladder truck, Shop # 207. originally painted white, repainted red, was undergoing a brake test resulting from earlier jackknifing incidents. The brake test took place on the Strandway (now called Day Boulevard) in South Boston. While approaching a curve in the road, braking apparently caused the rig to roll over. Crushed underneath the rig was Ladderman Joseph Sullivan. Injured were Ladderman Joseph Babb, the apparatus chauffer, and Ladderman Arthur Spacone. The rig was immediately junked. No other white rigs have ever purchased by the city.
December, 1947 – Company received a 1928 American LaFrance, Type 17, tiller aerial ladder truck, Serial # 6406-C473, Shop # 253.
October 20, 1949 – Company received a new 1949 Pirsch ‘Hydromechanical’ tiller aerial ladder truck, with 150gal booster tank, Serial # 1806, Shop # 274.
1965 – Fire Fighter Charles F. McNally and Fire Fighter Francis X. McDonnell, Ladder Company 19, were awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
1973 – Company received a 1970 American LaFrance 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 12-1-1948, Shop # 206.
1974 – Fire Fighter Walter E. O’Hearn, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
1979 – Fire Lieutenant Charles E. Graul, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Patrick J. Kennedy Medal of Honor for his actions at 623-625 East Fifth Street, Box 7437, on October 28, 1979.

February 16, 1985 – Company received a new 1984 Emergency One 110ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, Serial # 3744, Shop # 205.
1987 – Fire Fighter James M. Hardy, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the John E. Fitzgerald Medal for the Most Meritorious Act of 1987, and the Boston Fire Commissioner’s Award, for his actions at Box 7334 on February 5, 1987.

1988 – Fire Fighter James B. Lavey, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
July 8, 1993 – Company received a new 1993 Emergency One 110ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, Serial # 12448, Shop # 226.
1998 – Fire Lieutenant Leo K. Mahoney, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation.
2000 – Fire Fighter Dennis Dixon, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
2008 Fire Fighter Joseph Boucher, Ladder Company 19, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation
December 3, 2011 – A plaque dedication ceremony was conducted by members of Ladder Company 19 at the firehouse at 700 East Fourth Street, South Boston. The plaques dedicated were in memory of Lieutenant James Gavagan and Ladderman Joseph B. Sullivan.
June 27, 2016 – Company received a new 2016 Emergency One ‘Metro’ 100ft rearmount aerial ladder truck, Serial # 140060, Shop # 262.
2019 – Four members of Ladder Company 19, Fire Lieutenant David J. Montoya, Senior Fire Fighter Richard S. O’Neill and Fire Fighters Paul F. McDonald and Edward T. O’Donnell, were awarded the Commissioner’s Unit Citation for their actions at Pleasant Bay, South Boston, on February 3, 2019. Citation
