November 13, 1893 – Company was organized in new firehouse at 5 Boston Street , Andrew Square, South Boston, and equipped with a 1893 Clapp & Jones Third Size steam engine, Serial # 2170. (G.O. #433)
January 7, 1898 – Combination Ladder Co. 3 was organized at Engine 43’s quarters. (G.O. #513)
November, 1904 – Company received an 1867 Amoskeag First Size steam engine, Serial # 270, ex-Engine 4 and Relief ‘E” and rebuilt by the Manchester Locomotive Works. The 1893 Clapp & Jones steam engine became Relief ‘A’.
April 21, 1905 – Combination Ladder Co. 3 was redesignated as Ladder Company 20. (G.O. #602)
October 4, 1915 – Company received a 1915 Christie 2-wheel tractor, Shop # 108T , attached to the 1867 Amoskeag steam engine, Serial # 270, and a 1914 Robinson combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Shop # 304 , ex-Engine 25, replacing the horse-drawn apparatus. (G.O. #88)
January 18, 1916 – Company received a new 1915 Velie combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Shop # 309.
January 8, 1923 – Company received a 1922 American LaFrance, Type 75, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 3916, Shop # 150.
May 25, 1925 – Company received a new 1925 American LaFrance, Type 75, combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Serial # 5061, Shop # 348.
August, 1947 – Company received a 1930 American LaFrance, Type 212, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 7240, Shop # 182 , ex-Engine 4.
November 20, 1947 – Company received a 1931 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster wagon, Serial # 7375, Shop # 387 , ex-Engine 13.
May 20, 1948 – Company received a new 1948 Ward LaFrance, Model 85T, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 48-2325, Shop # 136.
April, 1955 – Company received a 1948 Ward LaFrance, Model 85H, Hose & Booster wagon, Serial # 2334, Shop # 308 , ex-Engine 28.
1955 – Fire Fighter Robert P. Foley, Engine Company 43, was awarded the Walter Scott Medal, for his actions on December 25, 1955 on Middle Street, South Boston.

April 5, 1957 – Company received a 1952 Pirsch 750gpm pumper, Serial # 2049, Shop # 173 , ex-Engine 53 and Engine 2.
May 27, 1957 – Company changed from Double unit to combination Single/Double-unit operation. The 1952 Pirsch pumper was equipped for Single-unit operation, but the Company continued to operate a hose wagon.
September 4, 1957 – Company changed to Single-unit operation.
1960 – Fire Fighter Robert F. Clements, Engine Company 43, was awarded the Patrick J. Kenedy Medal of Honor, for his actions on June 23, 1960 at the Neponset River Bridge, Dorchester.

July 1, 1961 – Engine 43 and Ladder 20 moved to the quarters formerly occupied by Engine 23 at 900 Massachusetts Avenue , Roxbury. The old firehouse at 5 Boston Street , South Boston, was closed. (G.O. #29)
June 5, 1962 – Engine 43’s firehouse address was changed to 920 Massachusetts Ave.
December 7, 1964 – Company received a new 1964 Ward LaFrance, Model P90, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 64-9013, Shop # 187.
1965 – Fire Fighter Henry J. Miller, Engine Company 43, was awarded the John E. Fitzgerald Medal, for the Most Meritorious Act of 1965, for his actions in South Boston, Box 7415, on March 27, 1965.

August 1, 1968 – Company received a new 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm diesel pumper, Serial # 80-245, Shop # 172.
October 13, 1970 – Company received a new 1970 Hahn 1250gpm pumper, Serial # C12-43, Shop # 150.
May 4, 1976 – Company received a new 1976 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1500gpm pumper, Serial # 80-1247, Shop # 151.
July 14, 1980 – The 1976 Ward LaFrance Pumper, Shop # 151 , was returned to service painted Lime-Green.
February 4, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
October 10, 1985 – A reunion of Engine 43 & Ladder 20 members was held. See the Reunion Booklet from that event.
