September 1, 1850 – Franklin Ladder Company No. 3 organized and located in the City Stables at Harrison Avenue and Brookline Street, South End.

June 29, 1856 – Ladderman Charles T. Warren, Ladder Company 3, died in the Line-Of-Duty at Box ‘District 1, Station 3’, 2 Alarms.

1862 – Moved to new quarters at Harrison Avenue and Wareham Street, (the present-day 618 Harrison Avenue ), South End.

1863 – Company equipped with ‘Spliced Ladders’, total height reaching 65ft.

June 2, 1868 – Company named Franklin Hook & Ladder No. 3.

1873 – Company names discontinued, reverted back to numbered company only.

1874 – Company status changed from Call to Permanent company.

April 1, 1875 – Company moved into a new firehouse at 440 Harrison Avenue , at the corner of Bristol Street, along with Engine Company No. 3.

January 5, 1878 – Ladderman Frederick A.W. Gay, Ladder Company 3, died in the Line-Of-Duty from injuries received while responding to Box 78.

June 2, 1886 – Company received an Abbott-Downing Co. ladder truck, equipped with 22 ladders of varying lengths.

November 28, 1889 – Ladderman Daniel J. Buckley, Ladder Company 3, and Ladderman Frank P. Loker, Ladder Company 3, died in the Line-Of-Duty at the ‘Thanksgiving Day Fire’ on Kingston Street, Downtown, Box 52, 4 Alarms.

April 11, 1916 – Captain Frederick F. Leary, Ladder Company 3, was profiled in a Boston Globe newspaper story. Profile

May 6, 1916 – Captain M.J. Nolan, Ladder Company 3, was profiled in a Boston Globe newspaper story. Profile

May 23, 1916 – Lieutenant John W. McCann, Ladder Company 3, was profiled in a Boston Globe newspaper story. Profile

1916 – Company received the rebuilt Abbott-Downing Co. ladder truck, after being rebuilt by the Fire Department Shops, equipped with 14 ladders of varying lengths.

October 8, 1923 – Company received a 1915 Christie front-drive motor tractor, Shop # 217T , attached to an 1872 Waugh city-service ladder truck, replacing the horse-drawn apparatus.

April 28, 1927 – Company received a 1922 American LaFrance, Type 17, motor 75ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # 3766-C302, Shop # 230.

1928 – Company received a 1926 American LaFrance, Type 17, 85ft wood aerial ladder truck, Serial # 5527-C412, Shop # 242.

December 8, 1937 – Company moved to 60 Bristol Street , South End. The firehouse at 440 Harrison Avenue was closed.

April 28, 1941 – Company moved, along with Engine Company 3, into a new firehouse at 618 Harrison Avenue , South End. The site was the former Department Shops and firehouse of Ladder Co. 3 from 1862 to 1875.

1941 – Company received a 1930 American LaFrance, Type 217, 85ft wood aerial ladder truck, Serial # 7251-C550, Shop # 261.

October 14, 1949 – Company received a new 1949 Mack, Type 19, tractor, Serial # 19LS-1082, Shop # 261T , attached to a 1930 American LaFrance 85ft aerial ladder truck, Shop # 261.

1949 – Company received a 1930 American LaFrance, Type 217, 85ft wood aerial ladder truck, Serial # 7252-C549, Shop # 260.

1955 – Fire Fighter William E. Pero, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 5 Comet Place, South End, Box 2217, on December 24, 1955. Citation

1958 – Fire Fighter William E. Pero, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the John E. Fitzgerald Medal for the Most Meritorious Act of 1958 for his actions at Box 1671, 3 Alarms, on January 19, 1958.

1958 – Fire Lieutenant George F. Lee, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at Holy Cross Cathedral, Washington Street, South End, on April 3, 1958. Citation

1960 – Company received a 1957 Mack, Type B85F, tractor, Serial # B85F-1209, Shop # 252T , attached to a 1950 American LaFrance 85ft wood aerial ladder truck, Shop # 233.

July 13, 1962 – Company received a new 1962 Seagrave 100ft aerial ladder truck, Serial # N308, Shop # 210.

1963 – Fire Fighter Joseph H. Hardiman, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 9 Hingham Street, South End, Box 1614, on July 24, 1963. Citation

1963 – Fire Fighter John M. Morrissey, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 9 Hingham Street, South End, Box 1614, on July 24, 1963. Citation

1964 – Fire Fighter Francis A. Kane, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 254 Shawmut Avenue, South End, Box 1642, on January 15, 1964. Citation

1964 – Fire Fighter Joseph H. Hardiman, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 53 Newland Street, South End, Box 1671, on September 4, 1964. Citation

1964 – Fire Fighter John M. Morrissey, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions at 53 Newland Street, South End, Box 1671, on September 4, 1964. Citation

1966 – Fire Fighter Theodore M. Brown, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Roll Of Merit for his actions on Washington Street, South End, on October 22, 1966. Citation

1969 – Fire Fighter Frank J. Cronin, Ladder Company 3, was awarded the Walter Scott Medal For Valor, for his actions at 75 West Brookline Street, South End, Box 1671, on August 17, 1969.

March 23, 1970 COMPANY DEACTIVATED. Aerial Tower 1 was organized in its place at the same firehouse at 618 Harrison Avenue, South End.
