November 3, 1888 – Company organized in new firehouse at 444 Western Avenue , Brighton, with an 1871 Hunneman steam engine, Serial # 711, ex-Engine 6.

1895 – Company received an 1869 Amoskeag Second Size steam engine, Serial # 328, the ‘William E. Dawes’, ex-Engine 15.

March 31, 1896 – The Amoskeag steam engine Serial # 328 was rebuilt and returned to service.

December 8, 1902 – Newspaper story: Forty Four Years A Fireman [Lt. Henry P. Pitcher of Engine 34 retires.]

March 27, 1903 – Captain John Ready, Engine Company 34, died in the Line-Of-Duty.

August 6, 1923 – The horse drawn apparatus was replaced by a new 1923 American LaFrance, Type 75, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 4342, Shop # 158 , and a new 1923 American LaFrance motor Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 4340, Shop # 345.

March 17, 1935 – Captain Michael J. Gilligan, Engine Company 34, died in the Line-Of-Duty.

October 14, 1936  – Engine 34’s 1923 Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 4340, Shop # 345, was involved in a major collision with two private automobiles at Everett & Holton Sts., Allston.  Injured were Lieutenant Daniel P. Dacey and Hosemen George H. Morris, James E. Coggins and Frederick M. Delasco.   All members were removed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by police ambulance and survived.  Photo    Newspaper story.

August 9, 1939 – Company received a 1929 American LaFrance, Type 112, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 6667, Shop # 369 , ex-Engine 27.

May 8, 1948 – The 1923 American LaFrance pumper, Shop # 158 was replaced by spare 1926 American LaFrance pumper, Shop # 175.

September 2, 1948 – Company received a new 1948 American LaFrance ‘700 Series’, 750gpm pumper, Serial # L3594, Shop # 134.

September 21, 1954 – Company designated Engine Squad 34, a Single-unit Engine Company equipped with Rescue equipment. A Federal Civil Defense pumper, CD 6, placed in service temporarily.

1954 – Lieutenant Andrew J. Canning, Engine Company 34, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation

March 28, 1956 – Company received a converted 1947 Mack, Type 85, Hose Wagon, Serial # 85LS-1157, Shop # 335 , converted and rebuilt with 750gpm pump and Squad body, ex-Engine 13’s Hose Wagon.

April 6, 1956 – Engine Company 29, Double-unit, moved from 138 Chestnut Hill Avenue , Brighton, to 444 Western Avenue , Brighton and was designated Engine Company 34. Equipped with a 1936 Ahrens Fox, Model B-T, 1000gpm pumper Serial # 4014, Shop # 188 , and a 1936 Mack 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 82030, Shop # 189 , as the Hose Wagon. Engine-Squad 34 moved to 138 Chestnut Hill Avenue , Brighton and became Engine Squad 29.

May, 1956 – Company received a 1931 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 7377, Shop # 390.

May 13, 1957 – Company received a 1948 Ward LaFrance, Type 85T, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 48-2327, Shop # 103, ex-Engine 9.

May 29, 1957 – Company changed from Double to Combination Single-Double Unit Operation. The 1948 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 103 , was equipped for Single Unit operation.

November 8, 1957 – Company changed to Single Unit operation. The 1931 American LaFrance Hose Wagon, Shop # 390, was sent to reserve.

August 8, 1968 – Company received a 1964 Ward LaFrance, Model P90, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 64-9013, Shop # 187 , ex-Engine 43.

May 11, 1972 – Firefighter John A. Hopkins, Engine Company 34, detailed to Ladder 14, died in the Line-Of-Duty responding to Box 51.

November, 1972 – The 1964 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 187 , was converted to diesel.

March 21, 1977 – Company received 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 80-239, Shop # 160, ex-Engine 1.

April 10, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
