September 17, 1894 – Company organized at the quarters of Ladder Company 16 and Combination Wagon 1 at 4246 Washington Street , Roslindale, at the corner of Poplar Street. The company was equipped with a Clapp & Jones Third Size steam engine, Serial # 2330. Combination Wagon 1 was disbanded.
1900 – The American Steam Fire Engine was rebuilt in the Fire Department Shops.
July 19, 1913 – Hoseman John J. Goff, Engine Company 45, died in the Line-Of-Duty.
August 4, 1914 – Company received a new 1914 American LaFrance, Type 12, Triple-Combination 800gpm pumper (single-unit), Serial # 562, Shop # 101 , replacing the horse-drawn apparatus.
August 25, 1922 – Company was changed from Single-unit to Double-unit operation. Company received a 1917 Seagrave Hose & Chemical wagon Serial # 16326, Shop #312, ex-Chemical Co. 10.
November 29, 1922 – Company received a 1913 American LaFrance, Type 10, Combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Serial # 236, Shop # 302 , ex-Chemical Co. 11.
January 13, 1923 – Company received a 1922 American LaFrance, Type 75, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 3917, Shop # 153.
January 4, 1924 – Company received a 1923 American LaFrance, Type 75, Combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Serial 4351, Shop # 346.
June 19, 1938 – Company received a 1928 American LaFrance, Type 75, Combination Hose & Chemical wagon, Serial # 6317, Serial # 362 , ex-Engine 22.
November 5, 1938 – Company received a 1932 American LaFrance, Type 310RC, V12, 1000gpm pumper, Serial 7471, Shop # 185 , ex-Engine 30. The 1922 ALF pumper, Shop # 153 , was reassigned to Engine 30.
November 17, 1944 – Company received a new 1944 Mack, Type 95, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 95LS-1044, Shop # 109.
September 30, 1948 – Company received a 1931 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster wagon, Serial # 7374, Shop # 386 , ex-Engine 12.
October 27, 1954 – Company changed from Double-unit to Single-unit operation. Company received a 1947 American LaFrance ‘700 Series’, 750gpm pumper, Serial # L-3124, Shop # 120 , ex-Engine 11, which was altered for Single-unit operation.
April 4, 1956 – Company members and apparatus moved to 16 Walk Hill Street , Roslindale, and was designated Engine 53. Engine Company 53 members and apparatus moved to 4246 Washington Street , Roslindale, and was designated Engine Squad 45. Engine Squad 45 was assigned a 1948 Mack 750gpm pumper/engine squad rig, Serial # 85LS-1248, Serial # 397 , formerly Engine 33’s Hose Wagon (converted to Squad/Pumper in 1956).
June 11, 1959 – Engine Squad 45 moved to a new firehouse at 315 Cummins Highway , corner of Canterbury Street, Roslindale. The old firehouse at 4246 Washington Street , Roslindale, was closed. The building was later demolished and a public library was built on the site.
November 21, 1961 – The address of Engine Squad 45’s firehouse was changed to 945 Canterbury Street.
August 6, 1968 – Company received a 1964 Ward LaFrance, Model P90, 1250gpm pumper, with a squad body, Serial # 64-9011, Shop #177 , ex-Engine Squad 14.
1968 – Fire Fighter Anthony J. Rock of Engine Company 45 was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
July 31, 1969 – Company redesignated Engine Company 45. The rescue equipment carried on-board was transferred to Ladder Company 16.
1969 – Fire Fighter John F. Scott of Engine Company 45 was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation
July 4, 1971 – Fire Fighter Jeremiah Collins, Engine Company 45, died in the Line-Of-Duty at Box 2593.

March 9, 1972 – Company received a 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 80-245, Shop # 172, ex-Engines 43 and 33.
January 5, 1979 – The 1968 Ward LaFrance pumper, Shop # 172 , is returned to service painted Lime-green.
April 10, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
