November 20, 1927 – Company made a Double-unit. Company was assigned a 1920 American LaFrance, Type 40, Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 2807, Shop # 329.
October 11, 1929 – Company received a new 1929 American LaFrance, Type 212, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 6672, Shop # 181.
September 4, 1930 – Company received a new 1930 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 7239, Shop # 383.
1949 – Company received a 1945 American LaFrance, ‘600 Series’, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 8217, Shop # 101.
1950 – Company received a 1929 American LaFrance, Type 212, Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 6664, Shop # 366.
July 18, 1952 – Company received a new 1952 Pirsch 750gpm pumper, Serial # 2049, Shop # 173.
April 22, 1953 – Company received a new 1953 GMC/Robinson Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 451-30-3494, Shop # 314.
September 21, 1954 – Designated Engine-Squad 53.
1955 – Company received a 1944 Mack, Type 95, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 95LS-1044, Shop # 109.
January 12, 1956 – Company received a 1948/1956 Mack/Robinson, Type 85, 750gpm pumper, converted from Hose Wagon to Squad Pumper, Serial # 95LS-1248, Shop # 397.
April 4, 1956 – Engine-Squad 53 & Engine Co. 45 switched designations. Engine-Squad 53’s apparatus and company members became Engine-Squad 45. Engine 45’s apparatus and company members became Engine 53. Engine 53 remained quartered at 16 Walk Hill Street, Jamaica Plain.
Engine 53 was assigned a 1947 American LaFrance ‘700 Series’ 750gpm pumper, Serial # L-3124, Shop # 120.
June 1, 1959 – Engine 53 moved to a new firehouse at American Legion Highway, Cummins Highway and Canterbury Street in Roslindale, along with Engine-Squad 45 and Ladder 16. The original address was listed on Cummins Highway, but was later changed to 945 Canterbury Street. The firehouse at 16 Walk Hill Street was closed.
1962 – Company received a 1948 Mack, Type 85, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 85LS-1254, Shop # 131.
1968 – Company received a 1962 Ward LaFrance, Model 1120T, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 62-4788, Shop # 132.
1969 – Company received a 1947 Mack, Type 19, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 19LS-1064, Shop # 138.
1971 – Company received a 1962 Ward LaFrance, Model 1120T, 1000gpm pumper, in service as a Hose Wagon, Serial 62-4790, Shop # 139.
1971 – Company received a 1968 Ward LaFrance, Model P80, 1250gpm pumper, Serial 80-244, Shop # 169.
1974 – Fire Fighter Edward K. Fitzgerald, Engine Company 53, was awarded the Roll Of Merit. Citation

2005 – Fire Lieutenant Joseph E. Kelley, Engine Company 53, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award.
August 29, 2012 – Company received a new 2012 KME, ‘Severe Service’, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 8520, Shop # 183.
2016 – Fire Fighter Gary W. Russell, Engine Company 53, was awarded the Commissioner’s Unit Citation, for his actions on LaGrange Street, Newton, MA, on August 4, 2016. Citation
2018 – Four members of Engine Company 53, Fire Lieutenant Jeffrey Clark and Fire Fighters Brian J. Murray, David Curtis and Joseph P. Finn, were awarded the Commissioner’s Unit Citation for their actions at 6 Rainier Road, Mattapan, on October 1, 2018. Citation
