October 1, 1873 – Engine 25 organized as a permanent company in a temporary building on city owned land at 40 Washington Square (present-day Fort Hill Square), equipped with a Hunneman steam pumper, CN# 734.

March 11, 1874 – Hoseman William S. Hill, Engine Company 25, died in the Line-Of-Duty at Box 68, 3 Alarms, on Plympton Street, South End.

July 6, 1874 – Moved to permanent quarters with Ladder Co. 8 in a new three-story, 3-bay brick firehouse located on Fort Hill Square, between High Street and Belcher Lane.

September 1, 1880 – A Second-Size Silsby steam pumper, CN# 647 is placed in service at Engine 25.

July 18, 1884 – A new Second-Size Silsby steam pumper, CN# 782 in service. The Silsby steam pumper, CN# 647, became Relief G.

November, 1890 – A First-Size Clapp & Jones steam pumper, CN# 548 is in service at Engine 25. The Silsby steam pumper, CN# 782, became Relief D.

November, 1896 – A First-Size Amoskeag steam pumper, CN# 725 in service.

January, 1906 – An Extra First-Size Amoskeag steam pumper, CN# 784 is in service. The Amoskeag steam pumper, CN# 725, is reassigned to Engine 22.

November, 1909 – A First-Size Amoskeag steam pumper is in service. The Amoskeag steam pumper, CN# 784, is reassigned to Engine 40.

December, 1910 – An American LaFrance ‘Metropolitan’ First-Size steam pumper, CN# 3331, is in service at Engine 25. The 1909 Amoskeag steam engine is reassigned to Engine 36.

May 15, 1915 – The 1910 ALF steam pumper is attached to a Christie 2-wheel Tractor, Shop # 106T , displacing three horses.

May 28, 1915 – A 1914 Robinson combination Hose & Chemical Wagon, Shop # 304 , formerly Engine 46, is in service replacing the 2-horse hose wagon.

September 28, 1915 – A new Mack Hose & Chemical Wagon, No Serial Number, Shop # 308 , is placed in service. The Robinson Hose & Chemical Wagon, Shop # 304 is reassigned to Engine 43.

April 14, 1916 – Captain James F. Ryan, Engine Company 25, was profiled in a Boston Globe article. Newspaper story

February 5, 1917 – The 1915 Mack wagon, Shop # 308 , is replaced by a 1917 Seagrave Hose & Chemical Wagon, Serial # 16323, Shop # 311. The Mack wagon is reassigned to Engine 38.

February 5, 1921 – An American LaFrance, Type 75, High Pressure Hose Wagon, Serial # 3232, Shop # 336 , is in service replacing the 1917 Seagrave wagon which was reassigned to Chemical 5 in 1922.

July 1, 1925 – A 1916 Christie front-drive tractor, Shop # 109T , attached to an 1872 Amoskeag steam engine, Serial # 354, the former Engine 17 and 42, was taken from reserve and placed in service at Engine 25, replacing the 1915 Christie, Shop # 106T , which was retired from service.

April 30, 1926 – An American LaFrance, Type 75, motor pumping engine, Serial # 5511, Shop # 172 , is placed in service. The 1916 Christie tractor, Shop # 109T  ,was placed in reserve.

August 8, 1939 – Engine 25 is changed to single-unit operation. Some equipment from the wagon is placed on the pump. The 1921 ALF hose wagon, Shop # 336 , is retired and junked.

January 24, 1946 – Engine 25 is changed to double-unit operation. A 1931 American LaFrance hose and booster wagon, Shop # 388 , former Engine 48, is placed in service.

July 18, 1947 – A 1947 Ward LaFrance, Type 120T, 1000gpm pumper, Serial # 47-2275, Shop # 118 , is in service replacing the 1926 ALF pumper, Shop # 172 , which is placed in reserve. The ALF pump is sent to Maxim Motors and has a new motor installed.

November 14, 1947 – A 1947 Mack, Type 85, High Pressure Hose & Booster Wagon, Serial # 85LS-1162, Shop # 302 , is in service replacing the the 1931 ALF wagon, Shop # 388 , which returns to Engine 48.

November 3, 1948 – A 1948 Maxim, Model 2417, 750gpm pumper, with booster tank, Serial # 1666, Shop # 143 , is placed in service. The 1947 Ward LaFrance pump, Shop # 118 , is prepared for service at Engine Co. 55.

September 26, 1952 – Engine 25 moved to a temporary location at Ladder 18’s quarters at 9 Pittsburgh Street , in South Boston. The old firehouse at Fort Hill Square is closed and demolished to make room for elevated highway construction. Ladder 8 is moved to Engine 39’s quarters at 344 Congress Street , South Boston.

September 11, 1953 – Engine 25 and Ladder 8 move into a new firehouse at 123 Oliver Street.

November 12, 1953 – Engine 7 is moved to 123 Oliver Street from their quarters at 7 East Street. The old firehouse is closed.

July 13, 1954 – Engine 7 leaves 123 Oliver Street and relocates to 194 Broadway with Engine 26 and Ladder 17. The old firehouse is closed.

September, 1958 – A Ward LaFrance, Model 85T, 750gpm pumper, Serial # 2586, Shop # 177 , former Engine 56 and 20, is in service replacing the 1948 Maxim, Shop # 143 , which is placed in reserve.

July 11, 1962 – A 1962 Ward LaFrance, Model 1150T, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # 62-4784, Shop # 107 is in service replacing the 1951 Mack pumper, Shop # 118 , which is placed in reserve.

1973 – Company received a 1970 Hahn 1250gpm pumper, Serial # C12-38, Shop # 107.

1975 – Fire Fighter David Cunio, Engine Company 25, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Citation

August 15, 1979 – A new 1979 Ford/Sutphen, 1250gpm pumper, Serial # HS-1404, Shop # 119 , is in service as the hose wagon replacing the 1947 Mack hose wagon, Shop # 302.

February 4, 1981 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
