March 1, 1883 – Fireboat company moved to a new berth on the south side of India Wharf, Atlantic Av., Downtown, under a lease agreement with the Metropolitan Steamship Co.

July 1, 1889 – Company placed a new Fireboat in service, the MV John M. Brooks.
September 1, 1895 – Upon the organization of fireboat Engine Co. 44, Engine 31 was deactivated.
September 14, 1898 – Engine 31 made a reserve fireboat, located at Central Wharf.
March 15, 1911 – Company reactivated, with a new fireboat, MV Thomas A. Ring, at a temporary location at a berth at the quarters of Fireboat Engine 47, berthed at the foot of Lewis Street, East Boston.(G.O. 679)

December 27, 1917 – Hoseman Frank L. Lailer, Engine Co. 31, died in the Line-Of-Duty at Box 1294, 4 alarms.

The firehouse of Engine 31 was destroyed. The company moved to a berth with fireboat Engine 47 at the foot of Lewis Street in East Boston.
May 7, 1924 – Company moved back to new quarters and berth at 521-531 Commerical Street, North End.
December 31, 1947 – Received a new diesel fireboat, MV James F. McTighe.
October 22, 1948 – Company moved to new quarters and berth at Battery Wharf, foot of Battery Street, North End.
October 12, 1950 – Company moved to a new berth at Castle Island, South Boston. (G.O. 57)
November 29, 1950 – The berth at Castle Island being unsuitable after the first big storm, company moved back to Battery Wharf, North End. (G.O. 68)
August 5, 1959 – Fire Launch, with a 300gpm pump, placed in service with Engine 31. The Launch was 16.5ft in length, with two foot draft for use under piers.
September 12, 1969 – Company moved to a temporary location at Lincoln Wharf.
June 15, 1972 – Former Engine 47 6000gpm Fireboat MV Joseph J. Luna in service at Engine 31.
July 13, 1972 – Company returned to Battery Wharf.
September 15, 1976 – COMPANY DEACTIVATED. Replaced by the Marine Unit.
